Special things this year:
Bounce House! We’re getting a Bounce House!
We are going to be having a sidewalk sale all day, with over 10,000 discounted items! Comics 5 for a dollar and more!
Here are some tips for getting the most out of it:
We’ll be open early, from 9:00 AM, until our normal closing time of 7:00 PM, so come at your leisure. Keep in mind that some of the free comics will “sell” out early.
Bring your friends! Bring your family! Bring your wallets! :P
If you have a pull file with us, come earlier in the week to pick up your comics. That gives you more browsing time on Saturday!
While parking is not a significant problem, I still suggest carpooling whenever possible. There is loads of parking just down the hill in a state lot that holds hundreds of cars and will be empty on Saturday. Please try to leave a space in front of Cosmo Prof and Vapors for their customers.

And we’re not just talking about thousands of copies of Spider-Man 2099 #1 and Team America #2, but comics *you* really would like to read and own!

Come check it out! There’s going to be so many great comics at an incredibly low price that you’ll swear we’ve lost our minds!
All of the people have gone home. The streamers are down. The trash cans are emptied. The music and dancing have stopped.
But…The sounds of unicorns still echo in these rooms. The artwork and comments still fill the “Grafitti Wall” in the hallway. The presence of unicorns on these grounds will be felt forever. And why shouldn’t they be? After all, unicorns come in the front door every single day. They come seeking all manner of comics, from Adventure Time issues to the Zomnibus paperback. The seek the perfect mini for their Savage Worlds campaign, and the latest Arkham Horror expansion. Their needs and likes are as varied and unpredictable as everyone else.
And that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? That women and girls are just as into comics and games as men and boys are?
In 1933, Famous Funnies: A Carnival of Comics, considered to be the first true American comic book, was published. And comics have been loved by both male and female readers ever since. That’s where the slogan “Occupying Fandom Since 1933″ on this year’s Unicorn Party commemorative bag of candy came from. The unicorns have been here all along. They’re not a myth.
The unicorn Parties started out as being about awareness. To let people know women and girls love this stuff too. Now it’s much more than that: It’s a celebration. Unicorns will continue to multiply, and we’ll be here every day to welcome them into our fandoms. And every year, we will continue to celebrate them!
This year’s Unicorn Party raised $211.23 for Refuge House, so far. Any bags of candy sold the rest of the week will continue to add $2.75 per bag to that total.

I’m going to use this post as a place to list various announcements and information about this year’s Unicorn Party. Updates will periodically be added to the bottom of the post, so keep your eyes peeled!
This year we will once again be donating 10% of all proceeds to Refuge House, whose mission is to “provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to their children and families, as well as to eliminate such violence through community education and public advocacy.” Click on the link above for more information.
While the Unicorn Party is dedicated to celebrating the female fans creators and characters, everyone is welcome to attend, female, male, or transgendered. The event is family friendly, so bring your kids, parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents, great-aunts-three-times-removed, whomever!
There will once again be some food vendors present, and this year we are glad to welcome Lofty Pursuits’ ice cream bus to their number!
We are also going to spotlight local female artists and artisans who wish to sell their wares in front of the store! If you know of (or are!) a local woman or girl who makes stuff, have her e-mail us to let us know she is interested.
We’ll have fliers ready this weekend for those of you who’d like to be part of our “street team” and post them around town.
UPDATE: Flyers are ready, for those of you who want to print them out yourself
Anyone who wants some to hand out can also pick them up in the store!
UPDATE: At 8:00 we will be pleased to present a fiery performance by Tallahassee Tribal Bellydance!
