It’s hard for me to believe it, but it’s been almost a full year since our first Unicorn Party!

“What’s a Unicorn Party?” you ask?

The short version: It’s an event dedicated to celebrate, showcase, and appreciate all of the women and girls out there in comic and gaming fandom in particular, and female geek culture in general!

So it pleases me to announce that this year’s Unicorn Party will be held at our store on Saturday October 6, from 7:00 PM until… who knows? Last year we started packing up at 10:00 PM and immediately more people showed up and kept it going until 11:00 PM!

Our hope is that this year’s Unicorn Party will have more of a mini-con feel to it than last year. We are inviting some local female artists and artisans* to come and set up tables to set up their wares. We’re also working on getting some other light programming and things to do while you’re here. Our new larger space has a little more flexibility as far as what we can do inside. For example, there will be a woman-run Dungeons and Dragons game for both game-curious and experienced players to join in, as well as open card and board gaming  tables for other kinds of games. We’ll have some food trucks present and we’re working on some other fun things as well!

Last year’s attendance estimates range from 200-300 people, and I expect this year to have even more people come out. Remember, while this event is about and for female geeks, everyone is welcome! (Just be respectful, fellas!)
